Any owner-occupant, renter, lessee, tenant, or otherwise occupant of a dwelling, dwelling unit, dormitory, sleeping room accommodation, hotel or motel, who fails to comply with the general sections of this chapter; as applicable to him, and continues in this failure after due notice and opportunity to correct given pursuant to this chapter, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than twenty-five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars for each day the occurrence of the violation of this chapter exists after expiration of the time for correction of the violations has been given, or after the date of the decision on a timely appeal to the village board of trustees denying relief, or after the last day of such extended time for compliance and correction as may be granted by the board of trustees, whichever is later.
