13.44.010 Water main extension specifications.

Any property owner or developer desiring to extend the public water mains for the benefit of his property may do so at his own expense. Minimum main size shall be six inches in diameter or larger, where required by the master plan on file with the village clerk, or where required by the board of trustees to serve the future growth in the vicinity of the extension. All construction shall be in accordance with the Standard Specifications for Water and Sewer Main Construction in Illinois, Second Edition. Pipe to be used shall be Class 150 cast iron, asbestos cement, or 200 psi PVC pipe, conforming to Standard No. 14 of the National Sanitation Foundation and to the latest edition of ASTM Standard D-174. PVC pipe shall be rated at 200 psi at 73.4° F. Schedule 40 shall be used in eight-inch or six-inch diameter, and Schedule 80 in ten-inch or larger sizes. PVC pipe shall be joined by solvent welding or pressure slip joint made in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and approved by the superintendent. (Ord. 1979-6 § 54, 1979)
