8.04.100 Definitions.

For the purposes of this article, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section:
A. "Garbage" means putrescible animal and vegetable waste resulting from the handling, preparation, cooking and consumption of food.
B. "Litter" means garbage or refuse and rubbish as defined in this section and all other waste material which, if thrown or deposited as prohibited by this article, tends to create a danger to the public health, safety and welfare.
C. "Refuse" means all putrescible and nonputrescible solid wastes except body wastes, including garbage, rubbish, ashes, street cleanings and solid market and industrial wastes.
D. "Rubbish" means nonputrescible, solid wastes consisting of both combustible and noncombustible wastes such as paper, wrappings, cigarettes, cardboard, tin cans, yard clippings, wood, glass, bedding, crockery and similar materials. (Ord. 1974-1 Art. III § 1, 1974)
