Chapter 6.16 RABIES CONTROL
6.16.050 Duties of owner.
A. Any owner receiving notice or having knowledge that his
dog has been bitten by any animal suffering or suspected to be suffering from
rabies, or that his dog has bitten any person, shall immediately notify or
deliver his dog to any village police officer, who shall deliver the dog to a
licensed veterinarian for observation, or the owner shall himself immediately
deliver the dog to a licensed veterinarian for observation and immediately
notify the village police department of the name and location of the
veterinarian.
B. It is unlawful for any owner of a dog, upon receiving
notice or having knowledge that the dog has bitten any person or that the dog
has been bitten by any animal suffering or suspected to be suffering from
rabies, to sell or give away the dog, or to take the dog or permit the dog to be
taken beyond the village except to a licensed veterinarian within the county, or
any adjacent county, or to refuse to deliver the dog for observation as provided
