The village collector shall, before entering upon the duties of his office, take and subscribe the oath required by law of officers of the village, and execute a bond, with surety or sureties to be approved by the board of trustees of the village, in the penal sum of two thousand dollars, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of his office, and the accounting by him for all moneys received by him as such officer, which bond shall be filed with the village clerk.
